Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
World Health Organization, 1948

Throughout medical history, disease has been approached from two basic points of view:
The mechanistic/materialistic perspective sees disease as a malfunction of specific body components and the symptoms as the disease itself.
The vitalistic/holistic perspective views disease as the result of a deeper disturbance and imbalance of the whole person, while the symptoms are simply the signs and the manifestation of the disturbance.
The malfunction viewpoint is the driving force in conventional treatments. Whenever symptoms arise, they are counteracted by drugs, e.g. a decongestant for a runny nose, analgesic for pain, a steroid for inflammation, etc.
Homeopathy represents the holistic viewpoint. It is a highly systematic method of powerfully stimulating the body's own healing process in order to cure illness.
A person's health is viewed as a condition of the entire individual rather than the presence or absence of isolated symptoms. A remedy is selected which best corresponds to the total picture of symptoms, especially those that are unique and characteristic of the patient.
The remedy works by augmenting the body's inherent ability to heal itself. Just think of all the colds, flu's, cuts and bruises your body has recovered from in your lifetime. The basic principle of Homeopathy is the Law of Similars: any substance that can produce a specific set of symptoms when given to a healthy person, can cure those same symptoms when given to a sick person. Thus, "like cures like". In order to eliminate any harmful side effects of medicines, very minute dilutions are used: Law of the Minimum Dose and one medicine at a time: Law of a Single Remedy.
Naturopathy is the general study of varied natural healing systems all of which enhance the inherent vitality and healing power of the body.
Homeopathy, which is one of these systems, is based on a set of strict and unique principles. Though many homeopathic remedies come from plants, they are prepared differently from herbal medicines.
Botanical Medicine or Herbology treats separate symptoms with individual or multiple herbs, whereas Homeopathy treats the entire body system with one remedy at a time covering all of the symptoms at once.
The goal of Homeopathy is to help the patient attain and maintain the highest possible level of health. Health is defined as freedom to be creative with your life: emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually.

Homeopathic medicines, (called remedies) are specially prepared by Homeopathic pharmacists, using natural substances from all three kingdoms: plant, animal and mineral. These substances are prepared by a process of serial dilution and shaking, which renders them capable of stimulating the healing process. The process of dilution makes the homeopathic remedies extremely safe. They have no known toxic side effects.
